Noisy chaos is due to hit Upper Sydenham as Coldplay
open their UK concert tour playing to 60,000 people at the Crystal Palace
Athletic Stadium in June. While many of us appreciate concerts in the park at
weekends - the scheduling of these concerts for a Monday & Tuesday evening
will cause severe rush hour disruption and ruin our rest after a hard day's
work. Presumably because the stadium is located in the Bromley salient - it has
been licenced without reference to the long suffering surrounding
residents.
According to their website Coldplay are very excited by
the prospect of these huge shows. "Weve spent a long time in the studio
and havent played a gig for eighteen months says Coldplay guitarist Jonny
Buckland. We cant wait to get out on tour and play our new songs live".
The UK date marks the start of Coldplays biggest ever world
tour.
If you think the best solution to not being able to get
home or hear yourself think is to attend the event - then tickets went on sale
on March 5th from: http://www.gigsandtours.com or you can call 0871 2200 260
(which can be expensive from a mobile phone).
For those of a certain aged disposition Coldplay is
part of the Brit-pop phenomena who dominated the charts in 2000. The line-up is
Chris Martin (vocals/piano), Jon Buckland (guitar), Will Champion (drums) and
Guy Merryman (bass guitar) who got together while studying at University
College, London (UCL).
Coldplay have released two albums 'Parachutes' and 'A
Rush of Blood to the Head' and were hailed as the next Travis. Rumours about
the group splitting have come and gone.
