GIVING SYDENHAM A VOICE

Today Sydenham Town launched an Online Open Forum for any member of the community to chat, discuss, argue, advertise or just watch online from their own home, the library or anywhere they can connect to the internet.

Sydenham Town has been the leading source of information on the internet about our community since 1998. For the past year the website has been heavily involved in raising peoples awareness of the issues surounding the roadworks which have partially paralysed Sydenham.

A community website should not be about a webmaster deciding what is important for people to know. This is why we, today, added the Town Forum. Here you can read what other people say, you can question, you can ask. When there is an important piece of breaking news - like the announcement of the East London Line Extension - then its there within minutes and informed comment within the hour.

The website went online in 1998 and is the highest Google ranked community website in Lewisham. Over 3,000 people visit Sydenham Town every month. Its aims are:

• To provide a repository of information - useful and useless about Sydenham
• To inform people about events and issues about Sydenham
• To embark on a long term pictorial record of contemporary life in Sydenham
• To provide links to every website run by Sydenham people & businesses
• To help & encourage other Sydenham organisations online
