BrainStorm is based in Sydenham. It was set up in 1993
to move data across the internet. These were the days before the world wide web
became established. But when it did BrainStorm became one of the first UK
companies to dedicate itself to build websites. We concentrated on the small
business market. Most of this was in Surrey (which had more money and net users
than Sydenham!).
We now have a portfolio of over 200 clients. We not
only create their websites but manage most of them on our own dedicated servers
located in secure data centres.
BrainStorm is a member of Nominet UK - the domain
naming authority. We also provide an ICANN registration service through GoDaddy
- the most popular registrar for new domains. This helps us provide a complete
service and advice to our clients.
BrainStorm was also one of the first companies to build
a community website covering Cobham, Weybridge & Esher. This we ran as a
commercial concern and later sold it on at a profit.
We felt a Sydenham community website could not be
profitable - and as we work and live here - we operate Sydenham Town on a
different basis. We do it in our spare time and as we have families too we
can't dedicate the time and effort of a proper professional site.
But we hope it is a useful contribution to life in
Sydenham. We hope others will help by providing information, contributing
articles or helping in any practical way. We are currently embarking, with our
community partners to build a similar website to cover
Forest Hill.
